Jayne’s journey, in her words

“In March 2018 I returned from a holiday where, I have to admit, things had been quite excessive with my diet.  With the added over indulgence in the first quarter of the year it was time to do something as jeans were feeling tighter and I was slowly creeping towards a size 14, a place I had never been and at the age of 47 not a place that I wanted to visit!  Combined with the ‘over indulgence’ I was suffering with hormone issues due to being perimenopausal, I had not appreciated how this would impact on my appetite!  

I knew that I had to do something and enlisted the help of Nu Day, I contacted Vic and initially I had to keep a log of what I was eating (just for a week) which Vic then reviewed from here we had a Skype call to discuss how I could improve things.   Vic listened to me and from here came up with a plan, which outlined recommendations for improvements, the key focus was calorie intake. Thankfully this was not overly complicated, easy to understand and follow.

Vic helped me to appreciate what I was eating and how this would help my overall relationship with food, along with enabling me to increase my energy levels, in addition Vic suggested that I aim to hit at least 10,000 steps per day, this was a good challenge as I had been getting more sedentary in my day to day routine, it also complemented my weekly PT session which focussed on circuits and weights.  

The good news was that there were NO scales involved, I should point out that at the start I knew that I weighed around 64 Kilos, however I did not want to be on and off the scales every day.  Vic was fine with this, there was no pressure for me to be bound by this daily routine. The scariest part for me was having to provide some ‘body’ pictures, but with reassurance, from Vic, I submitted my pictures, hoping that in the weeks that would follow, I would see some improvement. 

I won’t lie the first couple of weeks were tough as I was having to think more about what I was eating along with preparation.  There were some days when I felt very hungry. Vic supported me and gave me ideas for taking the hunger pangs away. One of my biggest challenges was trying to find enough protein.  Vic again provided support with suggestions for certain foods that were higher in protein, this really helped, there were some days where protein may have been a little lower than it should have been but in the grand scheme of things this was okay.  Vic appreciated that I did not want to use protein supplements however she helped me to understand the need to combine protein as it supported my exercise regime, supporting muscle definition, which at the outset did not bother me but as I could see the changes in my body shape I felt good in myself and could see that my efforts were actually paying off, this made me realise the importance of the additional protein in my day to day eating.

I sent food pictures to Vic everyday along with a quick overview of the ingredients I was using when preparing food. I received constructive feedback, there was no criticism, just pointers as to what I could improve to get the best from a meal.  By the 3rd week I was feeling great, I felt that clothes were fitting better which made me feel good.   At the 4 week point I had to provide my body pics. Vic was so encouraging, she was extremely pleased with my progress, as was I! The combination of the right foods coupled with my exercise was working.  I continued on for a further 4 weeks, with the same routine. 

At the next body picture review, we could not believe the difference, my body composite was much different, the flabby bits had gone and I could see such a difference from the start, I could not believe it.  Vic was so encouraging and supportive and genuinely proud of my achievements. I had no idea at the start of this journey that I would see such significant changes in a relatively short space of time. The results far surpassed my expectations.  At every point I was supported. If I had any questions about my plan, food or exercise Vic was there to guide me, there was no issue at all, just helpful, professional advice, every step of the way. For me this kept me motivated and focussed.  

I would certainly recommend the services of Vic and Nu Day, since I started my programme I have felt extremely energised and have never looked back!”
